There is hereby constituted an alliance of manufacturers of personal care products, recognizing the vital need for sustainable practices in the personal care industry, who commit to promoting and adhering to best practices in ecological and energy policies to ensure that our products contribute to the well-being of both individuals and the planet.
1.The official name of this organization shall be the Smiling Planet Alliance (hereinafter the “SPA”).
2.The purpose of SPA is to foster collaboration among personal care product manufacturers to develop and implement best practices in ecological and energy policies, promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.
1.Environmental Stewardship: Members of SPA are committed to minimizing their environmental footprint by adopting sustainable sourcing, production, and disposal practices.
2. Energy Efficiency: Members shall strive to maximize energy efficiency in their manufacturing processes and supply chains, incorporating renewable energy sources wherever feasible.
3.Transparency: SPA members shall uphold transparency in their operations, providing consumers with clear and accurate information about the environmental impact of their products.
1. Raw Material Sourcing: Members shall prioritize the use of responsibly sourced, renewable, and biodegradable raw materials, minimizing the impact on ecosystems.
2. Packaging: Members shall work towards reducing packaging waste by employing eco-friendly materials, promoting recyclability, and minimizing unnecessary packaging.
3. Water Conservation: Members shall implement water-efficient practices in their manufacturing processes and encourage consumers to use water-conserving personal care products.
4. Energy Management: Members shall strive to minimize energy consumption in production processes and explore innovative solutions to increase energy efficiency.
5. Waste Reduction: Members shall adopt practices that reduce waste generation, including recycling and reusing materials whenever possible.
1. Innovation for Sustainability: Members shall invest in research and development to create innovative products and technologies that advance sustainability in the personal care industry.
2. Collaboration: SPA will encourage collaboration among its members to share knowledge, research findings, and technological advancements in sustainable personal care product development.
1. Consumer Education: SPA members shall actively engage in educating consumers about the importance of choosing sustainable personal care products and the role of responsible production and consumption of such products in environmental conservation.
2. Industry Advocacy: SPA will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to advocate for policies that support sustainability in the personal care industry.
1. Membership: Membership in SPA is open to all personal care product manufacturers committed to adhering to the principles outlined in this charter.
2. Governance: SPA shall be governed by its Board of Governors and Executive Committee in accordance with the SPA statutes.
1. This charter may be amended by vote of the Members present at the Annual General Meeting in accordance with the SPA statutes.
